When Tamara P. of Carolina was driving home from work she could not stand to leave the beautiful Basset-Lab mix pup on the street side to die.

Clearly exhausted, famished, and dehydrated, our best friend was lurking roadside ready to become the next causality of the desperate animal conditions in Puerto Rico.

Tamara called this pup “Carolina” after her city of rescue. Tamara, lead by all the goodness in her heart, went the extra mile for our best friend, and now she needs someone to help continue the journey to saving this gentle orphan.

She has currently spent over $450 of her own money for not only Vet fees for all of the medical care and vaccinations required, but also temporary shelter until February 26th.

Can you help with the next step? If it’s in your heart to do something, the time is now. This is your opportunity.

If you can temporarily foster our best friend Carolina at your home that would be a wonderful next step in this success story. If you choose to adopt her and take care of her, then that is the most that any of us could ask for. Right now, we have to ensure she isn’t thrown back into the mean streets, where she will become a certain victim.

If you cannot foster or adopt the pup, you may consider making a donation towards the outstanding Vet bill Tamara has incurred. The Vet that handled the services is Condado Animal Hospital on Condado Ave, near Buenos Ayres restaurant.

Email us here and we will provide you with Tamara’s telephone # to coordinate your help.

Note: Carolina is also in need of spaying, for which you can sponsor. Spaying and neutering is the ONLY long term program that will ensure that the emergency situation of animals in Puerto Rico is reversed. Every female can produce as many as 300 puppies in her life time alone, not to mention the next generations that will be born from her own pups who manage to survive into adulthood.

UPDATE: MARCH 27, 2009

Carolina was adopted by a family in New York.  She left this past Sunday. Thank you for asking!!!
